Jasmin's Baby Shower March 2012
CROCHETED BLANKET FOR THE NEWEST BABY LUNDGREN
Its my thing to be the one who makes the homemade blankets for events like this. I sort of took over that tradition when my Mother passed away. Since we dont know the sex of this little peanut...I thought it was approprate to make this in yellow & green. I've had alot going on in my life so I decided to make this pattern as simple as possible. I just did double crochets the whole way through. 10 rows per color..and the white in between is done in single crochets, 4 rows of each. I was very pleased with how this came out.
My sister and I found these cute bibs and I thought it would be even cuter to sew our names in them..lol I think it was a hit at the shower :)
FAVORS
I decided for Jasmin's shower I'd do her favors a little different. Since she is due in the Spring, I thought a nice bouquet of Rice Krispies lollipops dipped in pastel colored chocolates. Since Jasmin is also a fan of Winnie the Pooh, I thought it might be cute to have the flowers done in Poohs honey pot. I thought they came out adorable.
DIAPER CAKES
So, once again I decided to get creative with some of the diapers I bought for my brother and sister in law's new baby due at the end of April. The first is your traditional diaper layer cake. The second is a Winnie the Pooh w/ his honey pot diaper cake and the third is a cool Motorcycle cake. I was very pleased with how these came out! Not only did they make great gifts, but they also made awesome decorations for the Shower!!

Blanket for Baby Bean aka Ozzy :)
Amanda's Baby Shower: GIFTS
So, here are some pictures of the gifts I decided to make for Amanda and her little baby bean. The first is a 3 tier diaper cake. Its the gift any new mother will use...and its a great centerpiece. I used #1 infant diapers and since Amanda loves Winny the Pooh, I tried to make it with pooh decorations. I thought it came out awesome for my very first DIAPER CAKE.
The second picture is a Diaper Bassinet. This is very cute but much more of a pain to make..lol. I had leftover diapers from my diaper cake so I thought this would be cute to try. Everyone seemed to love it and thought it was adorable.
How can you have a baby shower without making booties. These cute white w/ yellow trim booties were very simple and came out adorable. Id definally make them again.
Last but not least is the picture of the hooded blanket I made for Baby Bean. Yellow being Amanda's favorite it was a no brainer to pick out this pattern. It came out bigger then the pattern but I didnt think that was a bad thing. I tried to crochet loose so it would turn out a bit larger. Its a plain blanket but sometimes plain is really nice.

Quilted baby blanket for baby Hurley
Well, this is my first attempt of quilting a baby blanket instead of crocheting one. I know my mom did a few of these in her day but I never really watched her closely. I regret that now, but thankfully Kevins Mom offered to help me if I needed it. She was great, she spend 2 hours with me one night teaching me how to use my sewing machine. It sounded so easy, her explaining to me what I needed to do. When I started it on my own, that was another story. It was very challenging, but I think I did ok. The corners were the hardest and Im not all that pleased with how they came out, but Mrs. Pennings said next time, she'll show me how to do them the right way so they look perfect. For now, I dont think anyone will see the imperfections exept for me. I really hope Mike and Jill and expecally baby Hurley like this blanket. I think it came out pretty cute for my first attempt!

The blankets for Amy's Twins
Well, here are the two blankets for Amy's twins. I love the way they came out. As you can see the yellow squares are a little smaller then the green ones, but maybe thats a good thing. That way they look slightly different, yet they are the same. I'd definally make this blanket again. It was very simple and I think its very sweet looking when its finished.
Amy's blanket #2
Well, I finally finished blanket number 2 for Amy. As you can see, its the same pattern as #1 only with Green instead of Yellow. I love the way this one came out. The yellow blanket is very cute, but the squares came out much smaller then the pattern called for. I had to make double the amount to get it the right size. So for this one, I used a larger hook so each square measured about 4 inches, little more maybe. Because of this, the green blanket was bigger then the yellow one by about 3 inches. What I then did was make one more row on the yellow blanket to even them out. I'll show you the two of them together when I get a pic =). I cant wait to give them to Amy. I think I'll wait until closer to her due date. I believe its in June, but her doctors said she could go early since she's having twins.

Amy's first finished blanket
Well, I was able to finish one of Amy's blankets when Kevin was away. I've started the second, but dont have enough squares done to even post a picture of some. When I get a few more made, I'll post what they look like. I have plenty of time, she's not due until the end of May beginning of June. I do like to have them done and ready when the babies arrive :)Monday, January 28, 2008
Amy's blanket # 1
This is the progress I've made on Amy's first baby blanket.
I've gotten all the squares done ( all 85 ) and I sewed most together yesterday. I have two more rows to sew on, then I can begin the border. I love the color of this one, such a pretty pale yellow. I cant wait to finish this one, so I can begin the second blanket. I'll post the finished blanket as soon as I have it all done. Should only take a few more days.

Baby blankets

This multi color blanket I made for little Mallorie. I thought it was such a sweet looking blanket. This one was a little more time consuming due to all the little squares, but it was well worth it.
The purple one I made for little Regan. It was more like a crib blanket but very sweet none the less. I had to improvise to make it just a little bigger and I loved the way it turned out.
Baby Blankets

This green and white blanket I made for my cousins daughter Mackenzie. Such an pretty pattern, so simple. I'd make this again in a heart beat if I need too.
This yellow and green blanket I made for my friend Jewels when she was expecting. She tells me that today, her son Jacob, still loves his early birthday present.
